A LITTLE CLARITY BEFORE YOU BUILD
Your questions.
A clear starting point.
You don’t need to have everything figured out. Here’s what to expect as we shape a computer around you.
Planning your build
Can you upgrade the PC I already own?
Yes. Request component upgrades, custom cooling, or both. Share your current specs, goals and photos through our upgrade assessment request. We review compatibility and agree the work, inspection arrangements, coverage, and inbound / return shipping before you send your PC. Please wait for shipping approval. See how send-in upgrades work.
I don’t know much about computers. Where do I start?
Start with what matters to you—gaming, appearance, creative work, AI, or a combination. Choose any parts you’re comfortable with and leave the rest to us. We’ll help turn your ideas into a configuration that fits your needs.
Can I choose my own components or share a Newegg list?
Absolutely. For a new PC or upgrade, pick components in our builder, paste your Newegg PC Builder Share link, or add your component list as text. For a server, use the dedicated server requirements and hardware options. Complete and partial lists are welcome. We’ll review compatibility, availability, and cooling requirements before finalizing your quote.
If a shared link can’t be read, you can paste the parts as text and keep the link for reference.
What if the case or component I want isn’t listed?
Include the model name or a link in your special requests. Our listed options are a starting point, and we can review other parts and cases for your build.
Can you build something inspired by a photo?
Yes. For a new PC or upgrade, add inspiration photos in the Details section and tell us what you like about them—such as the layout, colors, lighting, or cooling design. We’ll discuss what’s possible and suggest a direction for your build.
Photos are included when you submit an estimate request. Shared build links and summary downloads do not contain the photo files.
Do you build AI workstations and specialized computers?
Yes. We can discuss systems for local AI, video production, rendering, engineering, research, and other demanding applications. Tell us which software or workloads you plan to run so we can recommend an appropriate configuration.
Professional graphics, larger memory configurations, multi-GPU systems, and rack-mounted requests receive a separate compatibility, cooling, and power review.
Can you quote multiple systems for an organization?
Yes. We welcome requests from businesses, schools, research labs, and public-sector organizations for individual workstations or multiple systems, including different configurations within one project. Include quantities, technical requirements, and any purchasing documents.
Purchase orders and payment terms are subject to review and written acceptance.
Quotes & payment
How does the quote process work?
Share your configuration and any special requests. We’ll review the details, clarify anything needed, and prepare a quote covering the proposed build and applicable costs. You’ll have an opportunity to review the specifications before moving forward.
At the Review step, enter your name and email to submit your configuration and attachments. You’ll receive an on-screen reference number and can download a receipt. Automatic email confirmations are not connected yet. Submitting a request does not place an order or collect payment.
What affects pricing, and can component prices change?
Pricing depends on your components, the amount of custom work, cooling design, setup and testing requirements, and the number of systems. Your tailored quote separates parts, assembly and custom work, and applicable sales tax.
GPU and memory pricing and availability can change before parts are ordered. Availability shown on a quote is a dated supplier check. We review pricing and stock when placing parts orders, notify you of changes, and obtain your approval for substitutions or additional charges.
For early planning:
- Gaming: resolution, performance goals, and graphics-card choice shape the configuration.
- AI and professional work: software requirements, GPU memory, system memory, and storage needs guide the parts selection.
- Showcase and custom cooling: chassis modifications, fabrication, waterblocks, tubing, and finish add materials and assembly work.
- Multiple systems: quantities, shared specifications, setup requirements, and delivery arrangements shape the project quote.
If you have a target budget, include it in your request. We can identify which choices affect cost most and discuss alternatives.
Any preliminary budget discussion is guidance. The reviewed, itemized quote defines the proposed scope and charges; retailer list totals may not include custom assembly, cooling work, or applicable tax.
How do payments work?
After you approve your quote and the Terms of Sale, full payment for parts is required before components are ordered. Labor and any remaining applicable tax are collected after completion and testing, before shipment.
Each payment schedule itemizes charges, tax, payments received, and the remaining balance. Shipping is included in the quoted price. Parts pricing and availability remain subject to change until parts are ordered; we notify you of changes and send a parts order confirmation.
See the complete buying process and payment terms. Your private order page provides secure review and payment links. Checkout is currently in sandbox mode for testing; no real payments are collected.
How long does a custom build take?
Timing depends on component availability, complexity, and our current schedule. Your quote may include case-specific timing guidance and any known supplier lead times. An estimated build completion date will be provided once all required parts have arrived and your build enters production. We notify you of delays and revised timing.
If your build remains incomplete more than 30 calendar days after the original estimated completion date, you may cancel before shipment for a full refund with no fees. Earlier shipping-delay and refund rights required by law still apply. See timing and delay terms.
What if I change or cancel my build?
Before shipment, the restocking fee is a flat 15% of the pre-tax quoted price of parts already received for your order. It applies to the full parts subtotal only if all parts have been received. For customer-requested component changes, it applies only to received parts being removed, where permitted and reviewed in the change proposal. It is not automatically charged for changes we recommend. It does not apply to tax, labor, or parts not yet received.
Paid labor is refunded in full and unpaid labor is waived, even if the build is complete. Fee-free refunds apply under our delay guarantee and where required by law or if we cannot fulfill your order. Email sales@coreandframe.com for all cancellation and refund requests, including your order reference. Build changes can be requested on your secure order page and require a reviewed proposal before approval. See cancellation details.
How are shipping and my delivery address confirmed?
U.S. shipping is included in your quote. International delivery arrangements require review. You review the final total and confirm your delivery address before final payment. For card payments, billing details should match the card issuer’s records. The delivery address can be different and may need additional review before shipment. After verified payment, we send setup and handling instructions and release the shipment. Tracking distinguishes label creation from carrier acceptance.
How do you handle my information and uploaded photos?
We use your information to review your request and respond about your build. Configurations and attachment drafts may also remain saved in your browser after submission. You can clear those drafts and read about storage, service providers, retention, and privacy requests in our Privacy Policy.
Testing & warranty
What setup and testing are included?
Every build receives assembly inspection, system setup, and testing before delivery. Depending on your configuration, this includes:
- BIOS configuration and appropriate stable updates.
- Operating system installation, activation, and driver updates when included in your quote.
- Memory testing and storage health checks.
- CPU and graphics stress testing to check stability and cooling under load.
- Fan and pump configuration.
- Checks of display output, network connectivity, and available ports.
- Leak testing and inspection of custom liquid-cooling systems.
Specialized software installation or workload testing can be discussed when preparing your quote.
What warranty coverage is included?
Core & Frame includes a one-year limited workmanship warranty from delivery covering defects in our assembly or installation, including custom liquid-cooling installation and mounting CPU or GPU waterblocks. Covered workmanship issues are corrected at no labor charge.
New components carry applicable manufacturer warranties, separate from our workmanship coverage. Eligibility depends on the manufacturer, product, source, terms, applicable law, and custom modifications. We review known limitations before quote approval. Waterblock installation is not automatically excluded from our workmanship warranty, but manufacturer coverage cannot be guaranteed for every modified component.
Used parts and any confirmed remaining warranty are identified in your quote. Concerns are reviewed individually, and the service process and shipping responsibility are confirmed in writing. See warranty details.
Will my computer need maintenance?
We’ll explain the care your particular build needs. Custom liquid-cooled systems require attention to the cooling loop as well as routine cleaning. We’ll discuss maintenance considerations with you when planning the build.
